The TECDOS range from RUD Chains Ltd harnesses the company’s high quality round steel chains for use in demanding maritime environments

RUD Chains Ltd’s new TECDOS technology is an innovative addition to the company’s range of high quality round steel chains for use in maritime environments.

The TECDOS range can be used across a wide variety of maritime projects that involve the use of round steel chain drives. The technology has so far been used to assist with the opening and closing of floodgates as well as lifting and lowering containers. It is also used for moving and swiveling port cranes, launching lifeboats and telescoping crane booms.

At the core of the new system is RUD’s highly wear resistant round steel chain technology. These chains are extremely robust, offer three-dimensional mobility and have an exceptionally high resistance to corrosion owing to the vigorous surface coating that is applied to the chain.

The strength and quality of RUD chains used in the TECDOS system are exceptional. The breaking forces of the single chain strands range from 20 kilonewtons (kN) to 1,287 kN. The strongest strands can pull loads weighing more than 10,000 tonnes or lift goods weighing up to 26 tonnes, which means TECDOS has capacity to work successfully in even the most demanding environments.

The system offers a range of advantages in terms of its durability and long service life when used underwater, offshore or in harbours.

RUD’s 130-year experience in the industry makes the company extremely well placed to offer specialised solutions for ship loaders and unique handling systems for the deployment of large structural fabrications on the seabed.

RUD is ISO 9001 certified and is renowned for its expertise in heat treatment methods – delivering high performance chain products to suit the most demanding applications.
